Four touchdown passes from quarterback DJ Lagway proved to be the difference as the visiting Baylor Bears dismantled the Arizona State Sun Devils 55-19 on Saturday at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe, Arizona. The final score of 55-19 reflected a dominant performance by the Bears, who improved their record to 4-1 while dropping Arizona State to 2-2.

The game featured 54,063 fans in attendance, witnessing a contest where Baylor controlled the tempo and scoring throughout all four quarters.

The game unfolded with Baylor establishing an early lead that they never relinquished. In the first quarter, Carson Smith kicked a 46-yard field goal for Arizona State, but Baylor responded with a 63-yard run by Ryelan Morris and a three-yard pass from Lagway to Tony Livingston, ending the period with a 14-3 advantage.

The second quarter saw Baylor extend their lead to 21-3 before Arizona State cut it to 21-13 on a 30-yard pass from Cutter Boley to Omarion Miller. Rhett Armstrong added a 36-yard field goal before halftime, making it 24-13.

Baylor’s offensive surge continued into the third quarter. Lagway connected with Hawkins Polley and Jadon Porter for touchdowns, while Caden Knighten added a 75-yard rushing touchdown. Despite a 36-yard field goal by Carson Smith for the Sun Devils, Baylor led 45-16 entering the fourth quarter.

In the final period, Lagway scored on an 11-yard run, and Rhett Armstrong sealed the victory with a 23-yard field goal, bringing the final tally to 55-19.

Statistical Performance

DJ Lagway was the focal point of the Baylor offense, completing 25 of 40 passes for 306 yards and four touchdowns. Ryelan Morris contributed 84 rushing yards on nine carries and added a touchdown. On the receiving end, Gavin Freeman hauled in seven passes for 115 yards.

For Arizona State, Cutter Boley completed 25 of 43 passes for 304 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Kyson Brown rushed for 34 yards on seven carries, and Reed Harris led the Sun Devils in receiving with 125 yards on seven catches. The statistical disparity in scoring plays and key performances underscored the magnitude of Baylor’s victory.
