A Lopsided Homecoming
The Baylor football team delivered a commanding performance against the visiting Prairie View A&M Panthers, securing a decisive 44-3 victory in front of a packed crowd at McLane Stadium. The Bears (1-1) controlled the contest from the opening drive, outscoring their opponents 17-0 in the first half and never looking back.
Nate Bennett orchestrated the offensive attack with precision, finishing with 301 passing yards and two touchdowns, while the defense held Prairie View A&M to a single field goal for the entire game.
First Half Dominance
The scoring began early but saw some back-and-forth action in the first quarter. Prairie View A&M opened the scoring with a 25-yard field goal by Ethan Eddins, taking a 3-0 lead. Baylor responded quickly, tying the game at 3-3 when Rhett Armstrong connected on a 46-yard kick.
The Bears then seized control of the momentum. Caden Knighten provided the first touchdown of the game with a 5-yard run, followed by Jayden McGowan’s 33-yard reception from Bennett to push Baylor ahead 17-3 heading into halftime.
The second quarter saw Baylor extend their lead significantly. Dre’lon Miller caught a 22-yard pass from Bennett for another touchdown, making the score 24-3. Bennett himself contributed on the ground with a 17-yard run, increasing the margin to 31-3. Rhett Armstrong added a 45-yard field goal just before the break, capping an efficient first half where Baylor outscored Prairie View A&M 17-3.
