Southwest Airlines returned to normal operations Friday after a vendor system outage disrupted the Dallas-based carrier's flights that morning, Reuters reported.

The problems began shortly after 7 a.m. local time Friday, Oct. 9, during the busy morning travel period, according to KRLD. The station reported that the outage grounded flights, froze the airline's digital services and forced gate agents to check in passengers by hand.

Reuters reported that the disruption stemmed from a vendor's system outage. Neither report named the vendor, said how long the outage lasted or said how many flights were affected.

Southwest Airlines Co. employs about 19,190 people in Dallas, according to the city's annual financial report.
