Four scores for Overmyer

Four touchdown catches by Patrick Overmyer powered Houston to a 35-16 victory over Kansas State on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, Kansas. The Houston Cougars were the visiting team, while Kansas State was the home team.

Overmyer scored on passes of 1, 2, 8 and 2 yards from Conner Weigman. Jonathan Dimas kicked after each of the four touchdowns. Overmyer finished with eight receptions for 83 yards and four touchdowns.

Houston builds early lead

Houston opened the scoring in the first period when Weigman connected with Overmyer for the 1-yard touchdown. Kansas State answered with Luis Rodriguez's 29-yard field goal, leaving the Cougars ahead 7-3 after the first period.

The Cougars added two touchdowns in the second period. Overmyer caught a 2-yard pass from Weigman, and Makhi Hughes scored on a 13-yard run. Dimas made both extra points, giving Houston a 21-3 lead at halftime. Kansas State was held scoreless in the second period.

Wildcats cut into deficit

Overmyer caught his third touchdown, an 8-yard pass from Weigman, early in the third period. Kansas State then scored on Garrett Oakley's 13-yard reception from Avery Johnson. The two-point pass conversion failed, making the score 28-9.

Houston answered with Overmyer's fourth touchdown, a 2-yard reception from Weigman, and Dimas' kick made it 35-9 after three periods. Kansas State's final points came in the fourth period on Jaron Tibbs' 6-yard touchdown reception from Johnson, followed by Rodriguez's kick.

Statistical leaders and records

Weigman completed 19 of 30 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns for Houston. Re'Shaun Sanford II carried 20 times for 90 yards. For Kansas State, Johnson completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Rodney Fields Jr. rushed 14 times for 46 yards, and Oakley made three receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown.

The announced attendance was 51,569. Kansas State moved to 3-2, while Houston moved to 5-1.
