Dallas police have identified and arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of Antonio "Tonio" Hall, a 27-year-old R&B artist who was gaining recognition in the local music scene. The suspect is 26 years old, though authorities have not yet released his name or filed formal charges as of the time of reporting.
Hall was originally from Michigan and was visiting his home state for his grandmother's funeral when the incident occurred on Tuesday. According to Norton Shores police, Hall was at a recording studio when he became involved in an argument with another man. The dispute reportedly centered over a music beat.
Hall sustained gunshot wounds during the altercation. Nelson stated that emergency responders attempted to resuscitate him for approximately 30 minutes but were unable to save his life.
Hall had been building a career in Dallas as an R&B performer. He was signed to Seven14 Entertainment, where he worked with Co-CEOs Latia Mann and Christian Nelson. His song "OMW" had accumulated more than 2 million views on YouTube at the time of his death.
Nelson described Hall's ambition to become a global superstar in the R&B genre. Both Mann and Nelson characterized Hall as deeply religious and talented, with Nelson stating that Hall possessed the capability to reach the highest levels of the music industry.
Mann recalled hearing Hall's voice for the first time and recognizing his unique potential. She noted that his vocal quality was distinctive and promising from their initial meeting.
