A reported shooting in Johnson County was determined to be a false call, according to county officials.
Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to County Road 1230 at about 8:30 a.m. Monday after receiving the report. They found the people at the location safe and found no evidence that a shooting had occurred.
Officials said the call matched the pattern of a swatting incident, in which someone makes a false report to prompt a substantial law enforcement response at an unsuspecting location. WFAA reported the officials’ statement.
