Rep. Robert Garcia, representing California’s 42nd district, told reporters that he did not believe the payment would occur. He stated that the American public expects the president to focus on reducing costs rather than making unfulfilled promises. Garcia was part of a group of House Democrats dispatched by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to respond to the claims made by Republican leaders during the event.
The delegation characterized the convention as a celebration of the president and billionaire interests, arguing that it occurs while the general public faces economic difficulties.
Rep. Madeleine Dean, representing Pennsylvania’s 4th district, joined the rebuttal efforts, describing the convention as a "farce" compared to the "facts" of daily life. She cited specific increases in household expenses, noting that families are paying $300 more for groceries, $100 more for electricity, and $600 more for gasoline compared to previous periods.
