Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is expected to sit out the team’s game against Louisiana Tech because of an ankle injury, but he could be available for the Big 12 opener against Colorado on Sept. 26.

Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Lagway is progressing toward a return for the matchup with the Buffaloes. That would put him on the field against Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders if the timetable holds.

Lagway sustained a high ankle sprain during Baylor’s 17-16 loss to Auburn in the season opener. He then missed the Bears’ second-week game, a 44-3 victory over Prairie View A&M.

Baylor coach Dave Aranda previously described the junior quarterback as day to day, while a report cited by ClutchPoints said Lagway had been attempting to play through the injury. His exact return status remains not yet clear. ClutchPoints published the update Sept. 17.
