The Dallas Cowboys are evaluating their safety options after Jalen Thompson suffered a hamstring injury in a 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil. Executive vice president Stephen Jones said Thompson will probably be unavailable for more than four weeks, according to a report cited by ClutchPoints.
Jon Machota of The Athletic reported on X that Jones also said Dallas would look for help at safety because of the team’s injuries at the position. The Cowboys’ potential additions and where they might come from have not yet been made clear.
Dallas appeared to have a chance to force overtime against Baltimore before giving up a major pass play near the end of the game. The Ravens then won with a field goal as time ran out.
The injury came after Dallas had faced defensive problems against the New York Giants in Week 1 and during the closing stretch of its Week 2 game involving Marcus Mariota. The Cowboys are 1-2 this season.
Dallas is scheduled to play the 0-3 Houston Texans next Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET in Houston.
