Maddy Parker matched a long-standing SMU record Saturday as the Mustangs’ women finished third at the SMU Classic in Dallas.

Parker’s 47.87-second 100 freestyle equaled the school mark Martina Moravcova set in the 1997–98 season. The swim met the NCAA standard, according to SMU’s Oct. 10 meet report.

SMU also won the 200 butterfly in 1:56.26, another NCAA-standard performance. The Mustangs finished with 271 points at Robson and Lindley Aquatics Center, behind Arizona State’s 369 and Arkansas’ 310. Missouri, Virginia Tech and Arizona rounded out the six-team field.

The university said third place was its highest final position at the Classic since 2014–15. SMU had also been third after Friday’s opening session.
