Thirty seconds from a shutout loss on the road, Tyler Seguin put the Dallas Stars back in the game.

Seguin tipped Jason Robertson's shot past Arturs Silovs at 19:30 of the third period, forcing overtime in a 2-1 shootout defeat to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday at PPG Paints Arena. It was his first goal since Nov. 15, 2025, and his first point in five games this season, NHL.com reported. The 34-year-old also scored in the shootout before Rickard Rakell decided it for Pittsburgh.

"It felt great," Seguin said, per NHL.com. "Every day, just trying to get better. Every game, I feel a little more comfortable, feel a little better. Compete a little more. Nice to get one."

Late tip after a scoreless two periods

Neither club scored through 40 minutes. Connor Dewar finally broke through at 1:57 of the third, flipping a backhand that fluttered in off Stars defenseman Lian Bichsel for a 1-0 Penguins lead. Jake Oettinger's shutout streak ended at 188:52 - the longest of his career and the third-longest in Stars franchise history, according to NHL.com.

Dallas kept pushing. Seguin nearly scored earlier, turned aside by Silovs' left pad on a second-period chance set up by Jamie Benn. When Robertson's shot arrived from the slot with the clock under 30 seconds, Seguin was at the crease for the tip that knotted it 1-1.

NHL.com noted it was Seguin's 49th game-tying goal for the Stars, moving him past Dave Gagner for sixth-most in franchise history. Mike Modano sits first with 103.

Shootout drama, then Colorado next

In the skills competition Seguin and Wyatt Johnston scored for Dallas, while Ben Kindel, Sidney Crosby and Rakell converted for Pittsburgh. Silovs stopped Robertson in the first round, and Mikko Rantanen missed the net in the fourth. ESPN's box lists Seguin with one goal on two shots in 13:14 of ice time, plus the shootout marker.

Silovs finished with 24 saves. Pittsburgh improved to 3-2-1 and snapped a three-game skid (0-2-1). Dallas fell to 2-2-1 and hosts Colorado on Tuesday to open a back-to-back against the Avalanche.

Seguin's late tip did not deliver two points, but it delivered the equalizer the Stars needed to extend the night - and the first goal of a long climb back from last season's torn ACL.
