Mavericks CEO Rick Welts to retire at year's end, with president Ethan Casson taking over Jan. 1
Welts, a Hall of Famer who came out of retirement in 2025, leaves Dec. 31. Casson inherits the team's push for a new arena on the former Valley View Mall site before its downtown lease ends in 2031.
