Dallas’ new traffic-enforcement grant period begins Thursday, Oct. 1, with an $870,196.26 federal award and $153,622.33 in city matching funds listed in an approved city legislation record.
The $1,023,818.59 program runs through Sept. 30, 2027. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration award comes through TxDOT and reimburses officer and supervisor overtime for targeted enforcement, along with travel expenses.
Dallas’ supporting report identifies impaired driving, speeding, seat-belt use and traffic-control violations as priorities. It links the effort to the city’s Vision Zero plan and its goal of reducing fatal and serious-injury crashes.
