Dallas County recorded 76,243 in-person voters on Monday, Oct. 19, as early voting opened for the Nov. 3 general and joint election, according to the county elections department's unofficial turnout report by date and location, posted late Monday night.

That is more than twice the opening-day count from the last midterm. KERA, citing Texas Secretary of State figures, reported 59,389 first-day voters in Dallas County in 2018 and 32,605 in 2022. KERA and NBC 5 had earlier reported a preliminary figure of 76,079.

In a social media post Monday evening, the elections department said turnout as of 5 p.m. had already passed the entire opening day of early voting in 2024's general election.

Among the sites on the county's report, Fretz Park Library logged 2,707 voters and Lochwood Branch Library 2,045.

Tarrant County's report showed 50,409 first-day voters, and NBC 5 reported 34,739 in Denton County and 34,522 in Collin County.

Early voting continues through Friday, Oct. 30, and Election Day is Nov. 3.
