Dallas homeowners seeking help with major repairs have until Friday, Oct. 16, to apply for the city’s Major Systems Repair Program. The application window opened Oct. 5.

Volunteers of America Texas, which administers the Home Improvement and Preservation Program, says eligible homeowners can receive a forgivable loan of up to $24,000. Covered work includes heating and cooling systems, electrical and plumbing repairs, roofing, exterior cladding and accessibility improvements. The city determines the assistance amount based on the approved repairs.

The program serves qualifying low- and moderate-income homeowners within Dallas city limits. The city requires the property to be the homeowner’s primary residence. Income, ownership, insurance and other eligibility requirements apply.

Online and paper applications are linked from the VOA Texas program page. Paper applications can be emailed to HIPP@voatx.org or delivered to 3560 W. Camp Wisdom Road, Suite 200, Dallas.

Applicants using email must receive a confirmation that their application arrived for the submission to be complete, according to VOA Texas. Residents can review the full requirements on the program page or call 817-494-0980 with questions.
