Families weighing their school options can meet representatives from every Dallas ISD campus in one place next month, when the district holds its Discover Dallas ISD fair at Fair Park.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, in the Automobile Building. The district bills it as "the largest school fair in North Texas."

Applications on site

The fair is built around school choice. Campus teams will be on hand to explain their academic programs, activities and specialized learning pathways, and families can apply directly to Dallas ISD's application-based schools during the event.

Parents can also file Legacy School transfer applications there. The district's deadline for those is Jan. 31. General enrollment across the district does not open until April, but staff at the fair can tell families when individual campuses will hold tours and open houses.

Hands-on exhibits

Alongside the campus booths, the district plans interactive stations where children can try robotics, drones, esports, virtual reality, 3D printing and LEGO building, plus a cosmetology demonstration.

Giveaways will include $50 Amazon and Walmart gift cards provided by the Dallas Education Foundation, along with tickets to Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark and a virtual-reality attraction, according to the district.

More information is posted on the district's news site, The Hub.
