Dallas ISD is reminding families about state funding for additional reading help. In an October 12 notice, the district directed eligible parents to the Parent Access to Supplemental Supports program, or PASS.

Texas public-school students who did not meet the grade-level standard on the 2026 third-grade reading STAAR may qualify. Applications are open through the Texas Education Agency’s PASS portal.

Approved families receive a $400 online account for tutoring. Parents choose an approved provider and can arrange in-person or virtual sessions, subject to provider availability.

Payments go directly to providers through ClassWallet. The funding is restricted to tutoring services rather than paid to families as cash.

Dallas ISD says its own free reading tutoring will continue separately. Families can check eligibility, create an account and find application instructions through the state portal.
