Dallas ISD schools closed Election Day Nov. 3; voter registration deadline Oct. 5

Dallas ISD is reminding families and eligible voters of key November election dates, including a districtwide school closure on Election Day, the district said in a Hub post dated Sept. 22.

Schools closed Nov. 3

On Election Day, Nov. 3, all Dallas ISD schools will be closed, according to the district. Voters can go to any polling location in their county of registration, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Dallas ISD said. The district directed questions to the County Elections Office.

Registration and early voting

The deadline to register to vote is Monday, Oct. 5, Dallas ISD said. Early voting runs Monday, Oct. 19 through Friday, Oct. 30. Registered voters may cast a ballot at any early voting location in their county of registration, the district said, and pointed people to the My Voter Portal to find locations (shown two days before early voting begins).

Photo ID at the polls

Under Texas law, voters must present one of seven acceptable forms of identification when voting in person, Dallas ISD listed:

• Texas driver’s license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety
• Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
• Texas personal identification card issued by DPS
• Texas handgun license issued by DPS
• United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph
• United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph
• Passport
