The Texas Department of Transportation wants to hear from Dallas-area residents as it shapes a bicycle plan for the roads it maintains, and it has opened online maps for public comment through Friday, Nov. 6.

The maps are part of TxDOT's work on the Dallas District Bicycle Plan, which covers state highways and roads in the district. The agency says it is seeking residents' local knowledge to help it make recommendations for those roadways.

The comment maps cover three pieces of the plan:

  • Bikeway functions: the role each state roadway should play for people on bikes.
  • Bicycle tourism trail refinements: proposed changes to longer-distance regional routes.
  • Corridor prioritization: which corridors should rank highest for improvements.

The survey can be found by searching "Dallas District Bicycle Plan" on txdot.gov. All comments must be received by Nov. 6.

The survey is offered in English only. People who need interpretation or translation, or a disability accommodation to take part, are asked to contact TxDOT at 214-535-7261 at least five business days before the deadline.
