Authorities have arrested a suspect wanted for nearly five years in connection with a 2021 homicide in Dallas, Texas. Juvencio Solorzano, 22, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force on Monday in Mexico and subsequently extradited to Dallas, where he was booked into jail.
Solorzano faces capital murder charges for the death of Sergio Maas, who was 22 at the time of his killing. The incident occurred on December 1, 2021, inside Maas’s apartment located at 3233 Sumter Drive in Dallas. Police discovered Maas fatally shot within the residence.
Initial investigations into the case did not reveal a confirmed motive or specific circumstances surrounding the shooting. However, investigators later determined that Maas had been shot after he confronted individuals near his Toyota Sequoia by activating the vehicle’s alarm from his balcony. The confrontation is alleged to have taken place during an attempt to steal a catalytic converter.
Dallas police identified Solorzano as the suspected shooter in 2022. At that time, authorities issued warnings describing him as armed and extremely dangerous. He remained at large until his apprehension in Mexico this week.
