Dallas readers can see the stories behind some of journalism’s and the arts’ best-known honors when a free Pulitzer Prize exhibition opens Saturday, Oct. 24, at the downtown J. Erik Jonsson Central Library.
Pulitzer on the Road will occupy the library’s first floor through Dec. 31, 2026. The library is at 1515 Young St. in Dallas. The display is recommended for visitors of high-school age and older.
The 1,400-square-foot exhibition brings together photographs, news coverage, books and music, with video, audio and interactive features. One station lets visitors explore winning reporting from local and regional news organizations. Dallas is one of two launch cities for the national tour, alongside Chicago.
The exhibit is separate from an opening-night conversation with novelist Barbara Kingsolver and composer Gabriela Frank. That program is scheduled for 6:30–8 p.m. CDT on Oct. 24, with author and lyricist Ann McCutchan moderating. Frank is also scheduled to play piano, and the evening includes audience questions.
Seats for the evening program require registration. Check the library’s event listing for the registration link and current availability before making plans. The library says its underground garage will be unavailable for that event; nearby paid lots, garages, metered parking, DART and rideshare are alternatives. There will be no book signing.
The broader exhibition gives visitors more than two months to explore the work, without having to attend the launch. The Pulitzer Prizes and American Library Association say the exhibition and associated events are free. Consult the Central Library page for visiting information and the library’s exhibition page for related programs.
