The Texas Secretary of State’s office announced the launch of SOSPortal, a new business filing system, on September 29. This platform replaces both SOSDirect and SOSUpload, consolidating filing, ordering, and searching functions into a single interface.
To facilitate the transition to the modernized system, online filing services, searches, and orders were unavailable from September 25 at 12 p.m. through September 29 at 8 a.m.
Specific cut-off times applied to Texas Express, the office’s same-day and next-day service, during the migration period. Requests for next-day processing had to be received by 12 p.m. on September 24 to be processed by the end of the day on September 25. All requests for same-day processing were required by 12 p.m. on September 25 and processed by the end of that day.
Standard Expedited and Routine Filings continued to be accepted until 5 p.m. on September 25 and September 28. However, these filings were not processed until after the new system implementation.
SOSPortal introduces several key features, including a modern user-friendly design and enhanced security via multi-factor authentication. Users can file all documents through the portal, including mergers and conversions, and save filings as drafts. The My Submissions page allows users to check status and retrieve filings. The system also includes a shopping cart and expedited submission options.
Client Accounts are not available in the new system. Accepted payment methods include ACH and credit card. Residents and businesses seeking updates on SOSPortal and other modernization efforts can sign up through the official channels.
