Voter registration deadline for November 3 election is October 5

Texas Secretary of State Robert S. Howden announced that the deadline to register to vote in the November 3 General Election is Monday, October 5, 2026. Election officials stated that registering to vote or confirming an existing registration is the first step toward a smooth voting experience this fall.

"The deadline to register to vote in the November general election is October 5," Secretary Howden said. "If you are qualified to vote but have not yet registered, or if you have moved or since you last voted, now is the time to act."

To register to vote, individuals must be at least 18 years old by Election Day, a U.S. citizen, and a resident in their county of registration. Texans can find a registration application, check their current registration status, or update their information at VoteTexas.gov.

Those mailing in a voter registration application must ensure it is postmarked on or before the registration deadline. To guarantee a postmark is applied and that the date on the postmark matches the date of mailing, voters should visit a USPS retail location and request a manual postmark at the retail counter when presenting their application.

Early voting for the November General Election will run from October 19 through October 30. Election Day is scheduled for November 3.
