TCU’s quarterback situation has become a personnel and financial issue after the Horned Frogs fell 21-13 to Central Florida in Orlando. Jaden Craig, a transfer from Harvard, remains ahead of sophomore Adam Schobel on the depth chart. Schobel had no freshman-season playing time in 2025 and has attempted one pass this season.
Craig has struggled in games against North Carolina and UCF, completing 45 passes on 72 attempts for 485 yards. He has two interceptions and no touchdown passes in those games, along with 10 rushing attempts totaling minus-38 yards, with sacks included in college rushing statistics.
The source said his receivers have provided limited help, but Craig also has had difficulty creating plays when the pocket breaks down.
TCU is 2-2 and 0-2 against Power Four teams after the loss, which was the Big 12 opener for both schools. The Horned Frogs had 11 penalties totaling 86 yards, finished two turnovers behind UCF and averaged 1.2 yards per rushing attempt.
TCU has scored 11.5 points per game through its first month, changing the outlook for the Oct. 3 home matchup with No. 9 BYU, which had been targeted as a potential ESPN “College GameDay” visit to Fort Worth.
