The Dallas Cowboys have signed receiver Ryan Flournoy and tight end Brevyn Spann-Ford to contract extensions that could pay the two players as much as $24 million combined. The agreements represent a shift from the team’s previous practice of extending players after established breakout seasons.
Flournoy agreed to a one-year extension worth up to $6 million, keeping him under contract through the 2027 season. He is coming off a 2025 season with 40 receptions, 475 receiving yards and four touchdowns, and the source said he is expected to take on a larger role as the team’s third receiver.
The deal also provides continuity if George Pickens leaves after the current season, according to the source. Flournoy is described as capable of playing all three receiver positions in 11-personnel formations, with his size and athleticism cited as factors in the Cowboys’ decision.
Spann-Ford received a three-year extension worth up to $18 million, including $12.075 million guaranteed. The agreement keeps the tight end under contract through 2029. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and had been competing with Luke Schoonmaker for playing time behind Jake Ferguson.
The source said Spann-Ford’s development during the 2026 training camp increased expectations for his role. The contracts were presented as predictive investments, with the Cowboys committing to both players before their projected breakouts were fully established.
