Texas defensive lineman Hero Kanu has been selected as a semifinalist for the William V. Campbell Trophy, the National Football Foundation announced. The award recognizes a scholarship athlete for achievement in academics, football and leadership.
The selection continues a recent run of recognition for Texas players. Linebacker Trey Moore was a finalist in 2025, following center Jake Majors’ finalist selection in 2024, according to Burnt Orange Nation.
Two other Texas players have won the award. Defensive end Sam Acho received the honor in 2010, and center Dallas Griffin won it in 2007.
