Nico Collins’ chances of playing for the Houston Texans in Week 3 have become less certain after the wide receiver sat out a second consecutive practice with a hamstring injury. The latest injury report was released Thursday, with one practice session still remaining before the Texans face the Indianapolis Colts.
Collins has not been ruled out, but his current status points toward a possible absence in the game at Lucas Oil Stadium. He injured the hamstring while preparing for Houston’s Week 2 matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals and did not play in that contest.
The 27-year-old receiver opened the season with seven catches for 75 yards and a touchdown on 10 targets during the Texans’ 36-31 home loss to the Buffalo Bills. He is coming off a 2025 season in which he totaled 1,117 receiving yards, and he has reached at least 1,000 yards in each of the past three seasons.
If Collins cannot play against the Colts, Jaylin Noel, Xavier Hutchinson and Kayshon Boutte could receive more opportunities in the Texans’ passing game. Tight end Dalton Schultz has been Houston’s leading downfield producer through two games, with 16 receptions for 175 yards.
A ruling that keeps Collins out of the Colts matchup would make Week 4 his earliest possible return. The Texans are scheduled to host the Dallas Cowboys in that game, which would include quarterback Dak Prescott. Collins also received a contract adjustment from Houston during the offseason.
