Knights Take Control in Orlando
Keyone Jenkins accounted for 19 of 20 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown to lead the UCF Knights to a 21-13 victory over the TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday. The home team dominated the second half of the scoring, outscoring the visitors 14-3 in the final two quarters to secure the win at Acrisure Bounce House in Orlando.
With the result, UCF improves its record to 3-1, while TCU drops to 2-2. The game drew a crowd of 43,212 fans to the venue.
First Half Back-and-Forth
The contest began with a quick exchange of touchdowns. In the first period, TCU’s Taevion Swint ran 13 yards for a score, giving the Horned Frogs a 7-0 lead. UCF responded immediately when Jeremy Payne rushed one yard for a touchdown, tying the game at 7-7.
The second quarter saw more scoring, with TCU’s Nate McCashland kicking a 29-yard field goal to restore a 10-7 lead. However, the Knights retook the advantage before halftime. Jenkins connected with Caden Piening on a 19-yard pass for a touchdown, and the extra point gave UCF a 14-10 lead entering the break.
TCU Pressure and UCF Response
The third quarter featured a long field goal from McCashland, who drilled a 45-yarder to cut the Knights' lead to 14-13. TCU’s offense struggled to build on that momentum, as quarterback Jaden Craig completed 25 of 40 passes for 310 yards but was intercepted twice. Despite the yardage, the Horned Frogs failed to score another point in the third period.
UCF’s defense held firm, allowing no further points and setting the stage for the final frame. The Knights’ balanced attack remained a key factor, with Duke Watson rushing for 57 yards on 13 carries and Josh Derry catching three passes for 41 yards.
Fourth Quarter Decider
The decisive moment came in the fourth quarter when Landen Chambers capped UCF’s offensive drive with a one-yard rushing touchdown. The successful kick gave the Knights a 21-13 lead with time remaining. TCU was unable to answer in the final minutes, leaving the Horned Frogs scoreless in the fourth quarter.
For TCU, Jeremy Payne led the rushing attack with 48 yards on 15 carries, including his first-quarter touchdown, while Jordan Dwyer was the top receiver with five catches for 100 yards. The Knights’ defense ultimately sealed the victory, ensuring the team left Orlando with a win and a 3-1 record.
