D-backs Explode in Middle Innings
The Texas Rangers were outmatched on Saturday, September 12, losing 9-1 to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field in Phoenix. The Diamondbacks dominated the middle of the game, scoring eight of their nine runs across the fifth and sixth innings. This burst of offense proved too much for the Rangers to overcome, as they managed only a single run in the entire contest.
The game was tied 1-1 after the Rangers scored in the fifth inning. However, the momentum shifted decisively in favor of the home team. The Diamondbacks began their rally with a double by Pederson that scored Burger, tying the game at 1-1.
The offensive wave continued with a ground-rule double by Vargas that brought in Lawlar, giving Phoenix a 2-1 lead. Ketel Marte then delivered a key double to left that scored two runs, extending the lead to 4-1. Moreno followed with a single to center that allowed Marte to cross the plate, making it 5-1.
Rangers Struggle Against D-backs Staff
The Diamondbacks continued their pressure in the sixth inning. Marte doubled to right, scoring Waldschmidt and increasing the lead to 6-1. Moreno singled again to center, bringing Marte home for the seventh run.
The blow was finished with two home runs in the same inning. Carroll hit a 382-foot homer to left center that scored Moreno, making it 8-1. Arenado followed with a 371-foot solo homer to left, capping the eight-run sixth inning and settling the final score at 9-1.
The Rangers' pitching staff struggled to contain the D-backs offense. MacKenzie Gore took the loss, pitching four innings while allowing five hits and four earned runs. He issued three walks and struck out two batters.
