Dallas came away from the 2026 Michelin Guide Texas without a new star, but Resident Taqueria picked up a Bib Gourmand and three more Dallas restaurants were added to the guide, according to the selection released Thursday morning.

The two Dallas restaurants that already held one star, Mamani and Tatsu Dallas, both kept them, the Dallas Observer reported. The only new star in North Texas went to Goldee's Bar-B-Q in Fort Worth.

A Bib Gourmand for Resident

Resident Taqueria, chef-owner Andrew Savoie's taco shop, was named a Bib Gourmand, the guide's honor for strong cooking at moderate prices. According to the Observer, Michelin's inspectors singled out the kitchen's mix of Mexican tradition, Texas barbecue and global influences, along with salsas and sauces such as salsa macha and a morita barbecue sauce.

The Observer counts six Bib Gourmand restaurants in Dallas after this year's list.

D Magazine dining critic Brian Reinhart wrote that the award comes after Resident was passed over in each of the guide's first two years.

Newly recommended

Three Dallas restaurants joined the guide's "recommended" tier, which lists restaurants without a star or Bib:

  • Fond, a downtown spot that D Magazine describes as serving lunch sandwiches, Detroit-style pizza, bistro plates and weekend tasting menus.
  • Mābo, the yakitori omakase restaurant led by chef Masayuki Otaka.
  • Olōyō, which opened in East Dallas this spring and serves high-end Mexican food.

Jashan, a high-end Indian restaurant in Plano, was also added.

Who dropped

Georgie, where chef Bruno Davaillon now runs the kitchen, was removed from the guide entirely, both publications reported. The Observer reported that Lucia moved from a Bib Gourmand down to a recommendation, and that Dallas did not win the guide's Exceptional Cocktail Award this year for the first time.

Sushi Kozy, a restaurant the Observer said much of Dallas was rooting for, did not earn a star. Reinhart called the omission among the worst star snubs in the country.

Contract question

This is the third Texas edition of the guide. The Observer called it the last year of the state's first contract with Michelin, and D Magazine reported that state and city tourism officials have not yet decided whether to renew it.
