With two more weekends left in the State Fair of Texas (closing Sunday, Oct. 18), Dallas Area Rapid Transit is running added rail service and a weekend bus shuttle meant to get fairgoers to Fair Park without driving.
State Fair Flyer buses
On Saturdays and Sundays, DART's State Fair Flyer buses run directly to the fairgrounds from four places: Addison Station, Downtown Rowlett Station, Glenn Heights Park & Ride and Lake Hubbard Transit Center. According to DART's fair service page, the buses leave those locations once an hour from 9:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. and drop riders at Lot 8, near the Midway Gate.
Return trips leave Lot 8 hourly starting at noon, with the final bus at 8 p.m.
DART said it will have extra staff at the transit centers to help riders with connections, NBC 5 reported.
Rail changes
All DART rail lines are running every 20 minutes until 10 p.m. daily during the fair, the agency said. On Saturdays, Sundays and Monday, Oct. 12 (Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day), the Orange Line runs only from DFW Airport Station to Buckner Station, which lets riders from the airport reach Fair Park on one train.
DART said added Green and Orange Line trains on those days will bring service through Fair Park about every 10 minutes.
Fair Park Station, on Parry Avenue at the fairgrounds entrance, and MLK, Jr. Station, near Gate 6 and the Cotton Bowl, are the two rail stops serving the fair. Riders transferring downtown can change to Green or Orange Line trains at Pearl/Arts District, Akard or Victory stations depending on the line they arrive on, according to DART.
