Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Dallas field office announced Thursday that 121 people were arrested during an operation at Lake Lewisville that spanned the summer months. The agency stated that among those detained were two individuals alleged to be members of the Venezuela-based gang Tren de Aragua.
The initiative began on June 27 and concluded over Labor Day weekend. According to ICE Dallas, the mission aimed to identify foreign nationals, support lake-related investigations, and allow local law enforcement to focus on boating safety laws.
The agency noted that every person taken into custody had a criminal record involving offenses such as assault, burglary, driving while intoxicated, evading arrest, family violence, or sexual assault of a child.
Among the detainees were Edwin Josue Cabrera-Zelaya, 22, from Honduras, and William Josue Ordonez Vasquez, 24, from Venezuela. ICE said both men admitted to being gang members of Tren de Aragua. They were under investigation by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for allegedly running an illegal livery business on the lake, which involves transporting passengers or goods via watercraft.
Four additional suspects were arrested in connection with that illegal operation. Jose Almendares Suazo, 30, from Honduras, had been previously removed from the United States and held prior convictions for assault causing bodily injury and family violence. Diego Gomez Hernandez, 22, from Mexico, was arrested with a 13-year-old girl found in his vehicle.
Luis Alfrando Digueros Quintanilla, 23, from Guatemala, had been previously removed from the U.S. and faced a prior arrest for felony sexual assault of a child in Dallas County. Axon Solomon Mejia Ortega, 35, from Mexico, also had a prior arrest for felony indecency with a child by sexual contact in Dallas County.
